Unpacking solid tumors: A topology-informed systems formalism

IBSE is very pleased to introduce you all to our guest speaker Dr. Bharath Prithiviraj. The title of his presentation will be: “Exposome Relevance to the Human Resistome: A One Health Conundrum”

Dr. Prithiviraj has spent a decade in the field of microbiome research and metagenomics. More specifically his focus is on environmental surveillance thereby informing impact on public health directives. He has experience working with startups, contract research organizations and academic research laboratories. Having trained with global leaders in the microbiome field such as Prof.Rob Knight, co-founder of the Earth Microbiome; and American Gut projects. He is a lead collaborator on the Dr. Chris Mason led intercontinental Bill and Melinda Gates foundation project called MetaSUB, with overarching goal of mapping Anti-microbial resistance using genome forensics. This effort also entails public health monitoring for the ongoing Covid19 pandemic. Additionally, he has helped develop distinct environmental sampling methods from diverse sample types i.e. soils, wastewater, fungi, algae, fecal samples, bacteria, viruses and air samples (Bio-aerosol). He has worked under the co-mentoring of eminent scientists such as Prof. M.S.Swaminathan during his Ph.D. and Prof. Norman Pace during his time as a postdoc in the Mark Hernandez lab, University of Colorado, Boulder.
