Post-Doc @ IBSE, IIT Madras

The Initiative for Biological Systems Engineering (IBSE) at IIT Madras is seeking to hire a Post-doctoral fellow to join the GenomeIndia Project. GenomeIndia project is a multi-institutional project started in India funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The project aims at performing whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of at least 10,000 individuals representing the Indian population in order to create a detailed catalog of genetic variations. We are a data science partner in this project. Our objective is to apply Machine Learning and AI for genome analysis, annotation, and reference genome development.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/related fields
  • Candidates must have demonstrated academic excellence
  • At least two years of experience working with whole-genome sequencing data analysis
  • Strong Expertise in biostatistics and machine learning
  • Knowledge in graph algorithms, QTL/GWAS
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Shortlisting criteria

  • Academic pedigree, performance
  • Ph.D. research area and list of publications, if any
  • Proficiency in programming (high-level languages, preferably Python/R)
  • Experience in whole-genome sequencing data analysis and statistics
  • Contribution to open-source projects will be a plus
