Publishing with PLOS: A guide to successfully navigating the publication process
Abstract:
PLOS One Editor in Chief Emily Chenette will provide a comprehensive overview of the publishing process at PLOS, from manuscript preparation and submission, to peer review and publication. Emily will discuss PLOS journals’ unique criteria for publication that emphasise technical and ethical rigour, review recent policy developments that centre research integrity, and highlight common reasons for rejection (and how to avoid them). By demystifying the publication journey, the talk aims to empower researchers to successfully disseminate their work and maximise its impact in the scientific community.
Speaker:
Emily studied biochemistry at Columbia University as an undergraduate, and went on to earn her PhD in genetics and molecular biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed postdoctoral research at Duke University, where she analysed gene expression signatures in lung cancer. Emily has always loved scientific writing and policy and left the bench to pursue an editorial career in 2007. Before joining PLOS One in 2018, she held editorial positions at Nature Cell Biology and The FEBS Journal.
