Project Scientist for INCENTIVE Project

The Initiative for Biological Systems Engineering (IBSE) at IIT Madras is seeking to hire a Project Scientist to join the INCENTIVE Project. The INCENTIVE Consortium is a partnership between Indian and European/US groups that addresses the global health and economic challenge posed by influenza infections to reduce the worldwide burden resulting from outbreaks. INCENTIVE’s central goal is to unravel the underlying mechanisms of poor responsiveness to influenza vaccines and advance the development of two next-generation universal influenza vaccines.


  • Candidates must have completed their PhD in Computer Science/ Bioinformatics/related fields
  • At least two years' of experience in multi-omic sequence analysis
  • Expertise in data warehouse management
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively


  • Work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with eminent faculty in Systems Biology and Data Science
  • Monthly emoluments starting at ₹56,000 + HRA
  • The position would be for 3 years after a 3-month probationary period
  • Access to state-of-the-art high-performance CPU/GPU computing infrastructure
  • Travel to one national conference every year and partial support to travel to one international conference in two years, up to a max. of ₹1,50,000 (IBSE supported)
  • Regular colloquia by international experts and workshops
